The trouble with testing the hypothesis “can I take over the world” with the null hypothesis “I will
fail: mankind has yet to accept my genius” is, in fact, the lack of a control. The better test is to start at the country level. That being said, you can still carry out the experiment;
it just won’t be conclusive for all worlds in general, merely suggestive.

It’s Friday, but there’s no enthusiasm over here. I’m in Houston, but my family is back in Baton Rouge, preparing for the storm. All the little things that I’d normally take care of are now being handled by my wife and kids. Things like getting the generator ready in case the power goes out, storing all of the yard items so they don’t blow away, and installing the window a/c unit to keep at least one room cool if the power goes out. There’s also getting food and ice, fueling up the cars, filling up the gas cans, etc.
This is going to be a rough weekend.

Yikes. I guess you’re not in a flood area, just in a “miserable weather” area?

Just because we engineers like to jump to the end and Just Do It doesn’t mean we don’t know what we’re
supposed to do.

We were still several feet above the flood depth when the biggest flood on record hit our area, but the roads to our house flood regularly.

Hah! As one with both a Physics degree and an Engineering degree, I understand this reference.
